Parkston Rubble Site
The Parkston Rubble Site is available to City of Parkston residents ONLY.
The following items are accepted and must be placed in their respective piles a the site: shingles, construction rubble, wood, grass, leaves, tree/tree branches, and white goods.
Items NOT accepted are: concrete/brick, carpet, electronics, mattresses/box springs, vinyl, upholstered furniture.
The City of Parkston obtains a restricted use permit through the State of South Dakota Department of Environment and Natural Resources. This permits allows the city to accept certain materials as stated above. Should the City accept a material not allowed by the permit, the City could risk being fined or even lose their rubble site. Please do your part to ensure that only material allowed is disposed in the correct locations at the site.
INSTRUCTIONS TO RESIDENTS USING THE RUBBLE SITE:
Grass & Garden Waste must be emptied from any bag or container. Bags and containers can not be disposed at the site, therefore they must be taken with you when you leave. Please ensure that all trash, plastic, flower pots, etc. are removed as they are not part of the compost.
Trees, branches, and non-treated wood are accepted and shall be placed in the burn pile. Painted wood, paneling, insulation, and construction material shall not be placed on the burn pile.
Scrap metal and white goods are accepted and has a separate location at the rubble site. White goods refer to refrigerators, stoves, washers, dryer, hot water heaters. No fuel tanks are allowed to be disposed. Please be advised that the freeon must be removed from the appliance before it can be accepted. If any appliance contains plastic it can not be accepted at the site.
Construction debris such as painted or stained wood, attached insulation, or similar waste shall be buried. A separate location is designated at the rubble site for this material.
Shingles, asphaltic or fiberglass, are accepted at the site. These too must be buried, therefore a separate location is designated for this material.
Hours are as follows:
Wednesday's 3pm-7pm
Saturday's 11am-5pm
There is construction occurring at the Lagoon so please be cautious of the workers as they will be working near the entrance to the Rubble Site. Call the City Office for any questions or concerns.
