Parkston Volunteer Fire Department

The Parkston Fire Department is a volunteer driven department consisting of 29 members of the Parkston community.  Our department meets the first and third Monday of each month. Members of the fire department are certified in Fire Fighter I & II training, CPR, first aid, National Incident Management System (NIMS), monthly in-house training, and various other courses when offered.

The Department focuses on public education, fire prevention efforts, preparedeness, and community risk reduction.  If these prevention measures fail, the Department is trained extensively and fully prepared to respond to a wide variety of calls for service.  These calls range from residential/commercial building fires, grass/agricultural fires, and assistance with motor vehicle accidents.

The Fire Department is an active group in the community, assisting with many fundraisers, events, and meals.  In order to raise funds to purchase new equipment and gear, our department hosts an annual event, which is open to the community.  Past entertainment included: dueling pianos, a comedian, and live bands.

The Parkston Fire Department encourages interested citizens to visit with a current fireman to see what programs and services are all offered through the department.
