KNOW YOUR FLOOD HAZARD
Flood Safety Awareness Week is held annually in March. The City of Parkston would like to raise awareness on flooding during the month of March. This month-long campaign provides an opportunity for the City's Floodplain Administrator to share information about the dangers related to flooding, how to prepare for flood events, and ways to prevent future damage from floods. It is also a good time for you to identify your flood hazards?

- Be aware of streams, drainage channels, and other areas known to flood suddenly.
- Do not drive into flooded areas. Turn Around; Don’t Drown. Two fee to f rushing water can carry away most vehicles.
AFTER A FLOOD
- Avoid floodwaters; water may be contaminated by oil, gasoline, or raw sewage. Water may also be electrically charged from underground or downed power lines.
- Be aware of areas where floodwaters have receded. Roads may have weakened.
